A few common questions
how soon can we be married?
The first piece of legal documentation, your Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) needs to be completed, signed, witnessed and lodged to your Celebrant at least one month prior to your wedding date and can be completed up to 18 months in advance.
How many witnesses do we need at our ceremony?
The legal requirement is to have two people, over the age of eighteen required to witness your wedding. It is a requirement that the witnesses, speak English otherwise you will need to source an interpreter.. As part of this, the witnesses will need to sign the Marriage and Commemorative Certificates.
Do you have your own speaker and mic?
I sure do, I pride myself on having the highest quality equipment - a Bose speaker and Sennheiser cordless microphone so all of your guests will be able to hear the ceremony clearly as well as you delivering your vows.
do we need to apply for a marriage certificate?
Yes! In short, the certificate you sign during your ceremony is a commemorative certificate. Following your wedding, I will lodge all of the official paperwork and legal documentation to Births, Deaths and Marriages and you can then obtain your official certificate directly through them.
There are a some important legal documents and I will help you with all of them.
• Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM): This must be completed and lodged at least one month before your wedding date (can be up to 18 months in advance).
• Declaration of No Legal Impediment to Marriage
• Official Certificates of Marriage: During your ceremony, you’ll sign three certificates. After your ceremony, I’ll lodge all of your documents with with Births, Deaths and Marriages and they will let you know when you can purchase your official marriage certificate from them.
What legal paperwork needs to be completed?
You absolutely can and I love when couples would like to write their own vows and include them in their ceremony.
